Our Staff

Dr. Michael Schroeder

Dr. Michael Schroeder was born and raised in Arlington Heights. Dr. Frank Schroeder, Michael's father, started our dental practice in Arlington Heights in 1954. Michael graduated from St. Viator High School and later received his Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame. He is a 1980 graduate of the University of Illinois Dental School.

Michael maintains active memberships in the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society and the L.D. Pankey Alumni Association.

Dr. Schroeder lives in Arlington Heights with his wife, Cindy, and their four children, Sara, Emily, Nathan and Jake. He currently serves as the Wheeling Township Supervisor and volunteers his time with the Mobile Dental Clinic and the Northwest Community Hospital Dental Advisory Board.

Dr. Ken Johnson

Dr. Ken Johnson was born in Evanston, Illinois and raised in Andersonville on the north-side of Chicago. Lane Technical High School is where he honed the skills he uses daily in dentistry. Drafting, Machine Shop and Foundry classes are routinely credited by him as laying the groundwork for developing his ability to rebuild even the most broken down teeth back to their nearly original appearance.

Dr. Johnson attended Loyola University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology while moonlighting at the Swedish Covenant Hospital. As he worked at the hospital during college he became friends with some of the staff dentists and his pursuit of a career in dentistry began. Dr. Johnson earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Chicago's University of Illinois College of Dentistry and upon graduation joined the medical and dental staff at Swedish Covenant Hospital.

In addition to working in private practice, he worked several days a week in a Northshore periodontal practice where he had hands-on exposure to non-surgical periodontal treatments. Ultimately, Dr. Johnson put his hospital experience to work while treating patients as staff dentist at several North suburban nursing homes before joining Arlington Heights Dental Group in early 1998.

Patients treated by Dr. Johnson will enjoy his sense of humor and ability to make even the most nervous relax during their dental procedures. Some of his interests and non-work related activities revolve around his daughter's sports, auto-racing as "doctor tooth" and travel with his wife and daughter. Dr. Johnson and his assistant Lena are always excited about meeting and treating new patients and if you sit in their dental chair -- be prepared to laugh!

Dr. Renee Pappas

Dr. Renee Pappas, a general dentist, was born and raised on Chicago's north side. A first-generation daughter of Greek immigrants, she attended Lane Tech High School and later received her Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago. She is a 1988 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. She currently holds active memberships in the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, as well as the Hellenic American Dental Association.

Dr. Pappas lives in Prospect Heights with her husband Dr. Michael Durbin, a local orthodontist, and their two teenage children, Kristen and Peter. She currently is an active volunteer for Friends of the Prospect Heights Public Library. Her hobbies include reading, jewelry making, biking, snowmobiling, and travel with her family.

Dr. Robert DiChristofano

Dr. Robert DiChristofano was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Norridge, just outside Chicago's northwest side. He attended Ridgewood High School and later received his Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, from Augustana College. He graduated in 1985 from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and later taught at the University as an instructor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry.

Robert has been in private practice for the past twenty four years, and maintains active membership in the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society.

Dr. DiChristofano lives in Arlington Heights with his wife Mary, and their two children Alex and Adeline. When not practicing dentistry he enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, and gardening.

Dr. Robert Busan

Dr. Robert Busan was born in Romania and moved to the Los Angeles area when he was only three years old. He became familiar with dentistry while working summers in his mother’s Los Angeles dental practice and later chose to follow in her footsteps.

In 2004, he received Bachelor of Science degrees in Neuroscience and Economics from UCLA, where he also received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2008. Dr. Busan moved to Chicago for postgraduate training in periodontics at the University of Illinois and completed the 3-year residency program in 2011; he served as Chief Resident from 2009 to 2011.

He is an active member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Periodontology.

Dr. Busan provides a complete range of periodontal services including the newest advancements in dental implants. Robert and his wife Alice live in Arlington Heights. In his free time, Robert enjoys traveling with his wife, and training for and competing in marathons and triathlons.

Jean Phillips - Hygienist

I graduated from the school of Dental Hygiene Harper College in 1997, where I served as board chair person for the Student Association of Dental Hygiene. I've been in practice for 12 years with Arlington Heights Dental Group.

I briefly practiced in Switzerland for 8 months 1998-1999 and enjoyed working in a foreign country and traveling, but eagerly returned to Arlington Heights Dental Group. I love working with people to help them understand the importance of oral hygiene and the role it plays with their overall health. I strive to individualize oral hygiene instruction to suit each person's needs. Working with the patients and doctors in this practice is truly a joy!

Katie Nay - Hygienist

I've been a patient at Arlington Heights Dental Group since 1998 and started dental assisting for Dr. Grise during college. The warm and friendly staff and up-to-date technology at Arlington Heights Dental Group makes this a wonderful office to work for and receive dental care.
