Michael graduated from St. Viator High School and later received his Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame. He is a 1980 graduate of the University of Illinois Dental School.

lLorelei Grise
Dr. Lorelei Grise', our "in-house" periodontist, grew up in Wisconsin and completed her undergraduate studies at the University ofWisconsin-Madison. She is a 1991 graduate of Loyola University-Chicago School of Dentistry. Continuing her education, she completed her periodontics training from Loyola University-Chicago in 1993.

We are fortunate to have Dr. Grise' as a member of our dental team. Her dedication and concern, along with her extensive knowledge of periodontics and oral pathology is a great asset to all of our patients. As a health conscious provider with exceptional surgical skills, Dr. Grise' can provide patients with all aspects of periodontal care (gum treatments) including extractions, bone and tissue grafting. Her gentle and fun loving approach has made a difference in patient care; helping to prevent unwanted and unnecessary tooth loss.

Dr. Grise' started working for Arlington Heights Dental Group in 1992 and has currently been with the practice for over 17 years.

As a licensed periodontist, she is a member of the American Academy of
Periodontology, Illinois Society of Periodontists, American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, and Illinois State Dental Society.

Dr. Grise' is very family oriented and enjoys spending time with her husband and their two daughters, Olivia and Emily. She also volunteers once a week at a clinic in Milwaukee doing extractions for children in need.

kKen Johnson
Dr. Ken Johnson was born in Evanston, Illinois and raised in Andersonville on the north-side of Chicago. Lane Technical High School is where he honed the skills he uses daily in dentistry. Drafting, Machine Shop and Foundry classes are routinely credited by him as laying the groundwork for developing his ability to rebuild even the most broken down teeth back to their nearly original appearance.

Dr. Johnson attended Loyola University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology while moonlighting at the Swedish Covenant Hospital. As he worked at the hospital during college he became friends with some of the staff dentists and his pursuit of a career in dentistry began. Dr. Johnson earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Chicago's University of Illinois College of Dentistry and upon graduation joined the medical and dental staff at Swedish Covenant Hospital.

In addition to working in private practice, he worked several days a week in a Northshore periodontal practice where he had hands-on exposure to non-surgical periodontal treatments. Ultimately, Dr. Johnson put his hospital experience to work while treating patients as staff dentist at several North suburban nursing homes before joining Arlington Heights Dental Group in early 1998.

Patients treated by Dr. Johnson will enjoy his sense of humor and ability to make even the most nervous relax during their dental procedures. Some of his interests and non-work related activities revolve around his daughter's sports, auto-racing as "doctor tooth" and travel with his wife and daughter. Dr. Johnson and his assistant Lena are always excited about meeting and treating new patients and if you sit in their dental chair -- be prepared to laugh!

rRenee Pappas

She currently holds active memberships in the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, as well as the Hellenic American Dental Association.

Dr. Pappas lives in Prospect Heights with her husband Dr. Michael Durbin, a local orthodontist, and their two teenage children, Kristen and Peter. She currently is an active volunteer for Friends of the Prospect Heights Public Library. Her hobbies include reading, jewelry making, biking, snowmobiling, and travel with her family.

katieKatie Nay - Hygienist
I've been a patient at Arlington Heights Dental Group since 1998 and started dental assisting for Dr. Grise during college. I graduated from Harper College in 2002 with an Associate Degree in Applied Science and Certificate of Dental Hygiene. After graduation, I was fortunate enough to begin practicing Dental Hygiene at our office. The warm and friendly staff and up-to-date technology at Arlington Heights Dental Group makes this a wonderful office to work for and receive dental care. As a Hygienist, I educate and treat each patient based on their individual needs and believe it is important to understand the relationship between a healthy mouth and a healthy body.

jeanJean Phillips
I graduated from the school of Dental Hygiene Harper College in 1997, where I served as board chair person for the Student Association of Dental Hygiene. I've been in practice for 12 years with Arlington Heights Dental Group. I briefly practiced in Switzerland for 8 months 1998-1999 and enjoyed working in a foreign country and traveling, but eagerly returned to Arlington Heights Dental Group. I love working with people to help them understand the importance of oral hygiene and the role it plays with their overall health. I strive to individualize oral hygiene instruction to suit each person's needs. Working with the patients and doctors in this practice is truly a joy!
